These 'bone' folders are a bit different from your standard folder - they're made from black Macassar Ebony timber, which is very dense and hard. They are made relatively thin and relatively sharp for a very fine crease. The flat end is also chiseled for a flat smooth and thin edge.
The folders are sanded to a smooth finish, but are not waxed or oiled, so they will not leave marks. They are sanded to leave just a very fine timber texture for grip, but smooth on the edges.
