Turmeric Ink

A natural ink extracted from the root of the Turmeric plant (Curcuma longa), well known as a spice and traditional medicine. The root is collected, dried, ground and the dye extracted in alcohol. For centuries, this dye has been used produce a traditional bright yellow and orange fade-resistant fabrics. We extract the colour and use it to formulate our Turmeric Ink in the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, Australia. 

• Bright yellow (also fluorescent under UV light!)
• Very transparent, so intensely yellow but quite light.
• Matte to semi-gloss finish (depending on paper)
• Can be thinned with water
• Can be thickened with Gum Arabic
• Available in three sizes (20mL, 40mL and 100mL)
  
  

Please note that although Turmeric ink is quite stable, in general, natural dyes can be less predictable than synthetic dyes. They may fade, intensify, change colour, change consistency and change other characteristics when mixed, or when used on different surfaces and paper types. We think this is one of the attractions of natural dyes - enjoy experimenting, and enjoy the natural variations you may find!
